Overview
In Burla, Sambalpur, there is a state-run institution of higher learning called the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology. The oldest engineering school in Odisha was founded in 1956. On June 10, 2009, it formally changed from its previous name, UCE Burla, to its current name as a result of the Government of Odisha's decision to award it unitary university status.
The Government of Odisha founded the VSSUT as the University Institution of Engineering (UCE), Burla, as the first engineering college in the state. The main objective of the college was to supply engineers (electrical, civil, and mechanical) for the adjacent Hirakud Dam project. The college was founded by Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation's first Prime Minister. Twenty students from three distinct engineering branches—civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering—made up the first class. The Biju Patnaik University of Technology was then given administrative control over the university, and afterwards Sambalpur University.
Beginning in 2008, UCE students actively lobbied for proper recognition as an autonomous university, which resulted in the university's founding in 2009.
The facility is located near Burla, next to the Hirakud dam, on roughly 300 acres of good ground. To stay up with contemporary advancements, it is constantly reorganising and updating its physical infrastructure, as well as its research and educational facilities. The campus's major facilities, including the computer centre, library, internet centre, workshop, and separate dorms for boys and girls, conference rooms, recreational amenities, and other utility services, are available to students.
VSSUT provides over 16 programs in nine streams at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Engineering and architecture, humanities, science, physics, chemistry, computer application and IT, math, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronics, communications, etc. are among the subjects covered in VSSUT Odisha programs.

Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology Admission
Admission at VSSUT Burla is solely based on the students' merit and their entrance exam results.
