Overview

The Institution of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, was founded in 2003 in accordance with the UPES Act (2003) of the State Legislature of Uttrakhand and is recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956. It is a privately operated university. In 2019, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) granted accreditation to the School of Engineering's B.Tech Automotive Design Engineering and B.Tech Chemical Engineering programmes after UPES received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The entrance dates have just been changed by UPES administration. The UPES MBA application form had a deadline of July 10 and the UPESMET will take place on July 12, 2022, according to the updated dates. The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies has also extended the deadline for B.Tech test applications to July 31, 2022. The UPESMET will take place from August 2 through August 4, 2022. The 5 Year LLB Exam (ULSAT) will be held from August 2–4, 2022, and the application deadline is July 31, 2022. In addition, the institution has extended the online UPESPAT application due to July 31, 2022.

The university currently has more than 1300 journal research articles. It holds more than 40 patents and has over 400 funded research initiatives. Additionally, the university has more than 80 research partnerships. Exams for the UPSEAT and UPESMET are held by UPES Dehradun in order to admit qualified students. However, it also recognises scores from national exams like the LSAT, NEET, and JEE Main. The university has a department dedicated to placement and career services that makes sure students receive quality instruction and exposure.

The UPES School of Business has been placed 46th, while the UPES Dehradun Schools of Law and Engineering have received rankings of 25th and 91st, respectively, according to the NIRF Ranking 2021. The university, also known as UPES Dehradun, is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, at the base of the Himalayas. Both of UPES's campuses, UPES Bidholi and UPES Kandoli, are located outside of the city.

The School of Engineering, the School of Business, the School of Design, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Law, the School of Computer Science, and the School of Modern Media are among the seven schools that make up the University of Petroleum and Engineering Studies. B. Tech: The schools of engineering, computer science, and health sciences all offer B.Tech programmes through UPES. UPSEAT and JEE are the approved tests. The student must have at least a 50% average in PCM and 50% in both the 10th and 12th grades (Physics, Chemistry, and Math). Additionally, they must have a current UPSEAT or JEE score. Aerospace engineering, Applied Petroleum Engineering, and Renewable Engineering are a few of the specialisations.

B. Des: The School of Design confers this degree. UPS-DAT and UCEED are the recognised tests. They also recognise results from the NID and NIFT exams. The candidate must go through a personal interview after passing the exam. Then, in order to be admitted to B.Des by UPES, they must exhibit their portfolio. Transportation and mobility, product design, and fashion design are a few of the specialisations.

B.B.A. : The School of Business awards this degree. Students must have at least 50% in grades X and XII. Students that qualify must appear in person for an interview. International trade negotiations, the petroleum industry, and marketing management are a few of the specialisations.

The School of Business also grants the B. Com. degree. All students with at least 50% in grades X and XII are eligible. Students that qualify must appear in person for an interview. E-commerce, banking, and insurance are a few of the specialisations available.

B. Sc.: The School of Engineering's Department of Applied Sciences grants this degree. Students with at least 60% in grades X and XII are accepted. Chemistry, Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Applied Mathematics are a few of the specialities.

M.Tech.: The engineering and computer science schools both offer the M. Tech. Students who have finished grade B and have at least a 60% average in X and XII. Interview eligibility for tech is at least 60%. Engineering in aerodynamics, space technology, and disaster management are a few of the specialisations.

M.Des: The School of Design grants the M.Des. degree. A UPS-DAT or CEED score is acceptable. The pupils' X and XII grades must be at least 50%. Additionally, they need a B. E. or B. Tech with a related degree, and B. BFA, B.Sc./BA in art, design, or another pertinent field, or an arch. The qualified candidates must appear in person for an interview. Fashion design, production design, and interaction design are a few of the specialisations.

M.B.A: The School of Design offers the M.B.A. degree. They accept a number of national-level tests in addition to their UPES-MET exam for the MBA, including the CMAT, GMAT, CAT, MAT, XAT, and NMAT. Students must score above the 70th percentile on the CMAT or GMAT, the 50th percentile on the CAT or XAT, the 400th percentile on the GMAT, or the 120th percentile on the NMAT to be considered eligible. Those without these marks will have to endure UPESMET. A group discussion and personal interview will be scheduled for them once they pass the exam or if they received a passing grade on one of the aforementioned assessments. Some of the specialisations include cross-cultural management, natural gas business, and international business law and negotiation.

L.L.B. : The School of Law offers this post-graduate programme. Graduation in any stream and 50% in the Higher and Senior Secondary levels are requirements for eligibility. Students that qualify must appear in person for an interview.

L.L.M. : The School of Law also offers this as a graduate-level subject. A student's X and XII grades must both be at least 50%. Additionally, they need have either a CLAT-PG exam rank or an L.L.B. degree with 50% of the possible points. International business law, corporate securities law, and cyber law are a few of the specialisations.

B.A: The business, law, and current media schools all offer the B.A. degree. Candidates must have at least 50% in grades X and XII. Students who have been shortlisted must go to a personal interview. A few of the specialisations are Energy Economics, Legal Studies, and Journalism and Mass Communications.

M.A: Only The School of Modern Media offers the M.A. degree. Only candidates with more than 50% in grades X and XII are eligible. They ought to hold a graduate degree as well. The students who have been shortlisted must appear for an interview. There are just two specialities available: journalism and mass communication and digital and mass media.

B.C.A. : The School of Computer Science grants this degree. Candidates must have a minimum of 50% in computer science in grades X and XII to be eligible. Interview calls will be made for the shortlisted students. The Internet of Things is the offered specialty.

M.C.A: The School of Computer Science also offers a Master of Computer Administration degree. candidates who have graduated in a related profession and have at least a 50% average in grades X and XII. Admissions

The remote learning programme of the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) was started in 2007. Along with the Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety, the Center for Continuing Education (UPES CCE) provides MBA, PGP, and BBA courses. In a school year, UPES CCE provides admission in four sessions.

  • The minimal requirement for admission to BBA is 10+2 with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 50%.
  • A bachelor's degree is required for admission to the MBA and PGP programmes.
  • Following counselling, admission is awarded based on academic performance.
