In accordance with an Act of the State Assembly, the Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University (MOBOU) was founded in 1991 to:
Reach the unreached using a variety of flexible methods, such as Open and Distance Learning (ODL), employing cutting-edge communications and technology to extend and expand higher education.
Establish/maintain standards and advance distance learning through cutting-edge tools and techniques.
Through adaptable and open remote learning, the university provides instruction and training. The system primarily comprises of curriculum development, the creation of self-learning materials (SLM), the production of assignments, and the expansion of student support services. The University's administrative centre, which oversees and controls the distance learning programmes, is located at Raja Bhoj Marg (Kolar Road), Bhopal.

Highlights of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University Admission 2022
Applications are being accepted for admission to UG, PG, Certificate, Diploma, and PG Diploma programmes at the Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU). Applications are accepted by MPBOU through the end of March 2020. The bulk of the courses have merit-based admission.
- In the third week of July 2020, applications for undergraduate and graduate programmes will open.
- The score received on the entrance exam is used to determine admission to the BEd Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme.
- The remaining UG and PG programmes will accept qualified applicants based on merit.
- Each certificate programme lasts for six months.

At the UG level, the Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University provides BSc, BBA, BCom, BA, and B.Ed programmes.
Selection Criteria: Admission to the B.Ed. programme is based on entrance exam performance, and admission to further courses is based on performance on the qualifying exam.
