Private, independent Mar Ivanios College was founded in 1949 and has a partnership with the University of Kerala. The UGC and NAAC have renewed the college's accreditation. The institution provides a total of 12 undergraduate and 8 graduate courses in a variety of specialisations, including business, English, zoology, natural science, biotechnology, newscasting and mass messaging, science, physical science, and science.

At the University of Kerala, Mar Ivanios College was the first institution to receive NAAC certification in 1999. In June 2014, the University of Kerala granted the college its remaining autonomy after receiving instructions from the UGC. Mar Ivanios College placed 36th overall among universities specialising in the arts, sciences, and commerce in the 2018 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Mar Ivanios College was ranked 50th among the best universities in India in the NIRF 2022 ranking.

Economics, English (assisted and independent), Commerce (aided and independent), Journalism and Mass Communication, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Botany and Biotechnology are among the subjects covered by the MIC. In addition, the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (DDU-KAUSHAL) Kendra offers two Bachelor of Vocation (BVoc) programs: one in software development and the other in tourism and hospitality management. English, Malayalam, Media Studies, Commerce, Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology are all included in post-graduate programs. Admissions to the Mar Ivanios College
