Admissions

B.Tech.

Candidates applying for admission to undergraduate programs in IIST must ensure they meet ALL of the eligibility requirements outlined below.

Citizenship For admission to IIST, only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Date of Birth

  • Both General Category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1991. Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1986, to qualify for the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PD) categories.
  • The date of birth must match what was recorded on the first Board or its equivalent in high school. Candidate must present an authenticated document from a competent authority at the time of counselling if the certificate does not include the date of birth.

Qualification Test

  • (or equivalent to) 10+2 Candidates for admission to IIST must have achieved a passing score on their qualifying examination in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
  • Candidates from the GEN and OBC categories must receive an overall grade of at least 70% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination, while candidates from the SC/ST/PD categories must have an overall grade of at least 60% in PCM subjects.

Any of the following tests should be used as the qualifying examination:

I The 10+2 system's final test, administered by any reputable Central or State Board, such as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi, or the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

(ii) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University test administered by an accredited Board or University.

Final exam for the Joint Services Wing's two-year program at the National Defense Academy.

(iv) The Higher Secondary Vocational Examination.

(v) The National Institute of Open Schooling's Senior Secondary School Examination, which must include at least five topics.

(vi) Any public school, board, or university examination administered in India or any other nation that the Association of Indian Universities has deemed to be similar to the 10+2 system (AIU).

(vii) Advanced (A) level General Certificate of Education (GCE) test (London, Cambridge, Sri Lanka).

(viii) The Cambridge University High School Certificate Examination or an International Baccalaureate diploma from the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate Office.

In order to qualify to take the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)-2016 administered by IITs, candidates must take the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2016 administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

Admission for M.Tech. at IIST Thiruvananthapuram

Admission to the IIST for MTech/MSc: Apply by April 30

For admission to different Master of Technology and Master of Science programs for the 2018–19 academic year, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiamala PO, Thiruvananthapuram, is accepting applications. Each program has six spots available.

2018 IIST Application Fee:

  • For SC/ST/PD candidates, the application cost is Rs. 600; it is Rs. 300 for female candidates.
  • After two days of registration, the application cost must be paid and may only be done so via SBI collect.
  • The deadline to apply is April 30, 2018, and the deadline to pay the application fee is May 2, 2018.

IIST M.Tech/MSc Eligibility Criteria 2018

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens in order to be accepted into the M.Tech and M.Sc. programs.
  • The applicant's age on April 30, 2018, cannot exceed thirty.
  • According to the Indian government, candidates who are SC/ST or physically impaired are eligible for an age reduction. For OBC/women candidates, there is no age relaxation, though.
  • Candidates must have a B.Tech, B.E., Master's in Science, or equivalent degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60% in order to apply.
  • The SC/ST reserved category requires a minimum aggregate of 55%.

Additionally, within the allotted time, SC/ST/OBC individuals and those with disabilities must upload their appropriate certificates. Because their applications will only be processed once online proofs have been received.

  • Candidates for the following department's M.Tech./M.Sc. program who have been shortlisted must attend the interview and written test. On the official IIST website, the list of candidates who have been shortlisted will be made public.

2018 IIST Scholarships:

The IIST will offer scholarships to students who have been shortlisted for the Masters in Science Program. The AICTE will offer scholarships to applicants for the M.Tech degree who use their GATE scores. Additionally, during the interview, candidates who are employed by government, public service, or semi-government organisations must present the institute with a No Objection Certificate.

Nationality

The applicant must be an Indian national.

Maximum Age

28 years old as of the final application submission date. According to Government of India Orders, age relaxation is available to the SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories. Age restrictions do not apply to OBC or female candidates.

Minimum Requirements

The aforementioned degrees, BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.S. or equivalent, must be in first class with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 6.5 out of 10. It is necessary to have a qualifying GATE/JEST/UGC NET score in the respective field, as described below.
